Jonathan Howe

A short message from my husband Jonathan Howe, regarding his new painting:

"One Step Away" - 24x30" - Oil on Canvas. I grew up with a beautiful creek running through our back yard. My summers were spent in that creek. A creek provides infinite fun for the imaginative child. My brother and I would catch snapping turtles and crawdads, build dams and bridges and hide in waiting as in a cool wet dugout for imaginary nazi soldiers to fall into our trap. While this new painting depicts a somewhat more picturesque mountain stream in the Smokies, it brings back memories of my childhood backyard escape.

Patagonia

Patagonia is a region located in Argentina and Chile, integrating the southernmost section of the Andes mountains to the southwest towards the Pacific ocean and from the east of the cordillera to the valleys it follows south through Colorado River towards Carmen de Patagones in the Atlantic Ocean. To the west, it includes the territory of Valdivia through Tierra del Fuego archipelago.

<sup>I myself have never been. But, my husband and I had the blessed opportunity to meet a young couple who have been there many times, and love it! The young man (our age) is an international photographer, and leads photography trips around the world. In fact, I envy the opportunities he gives people, such as a up coming trip to Alaska, in which he will be teaching aspiring photographers how to photograph the Alaskan Grizzly Bears (scary and utterly exciting!). 


This newly wed couple is loaded with enthusiasm, stuffed with adventure, and simply glowing with a love for God. Their heart, and their talent is truly hard to match! In fact, I encourage all of you to visit his website sometime!

^{They recently got married, and as a wedding gift, they had a painting commissioned by Jonathan, one of wild horses running out in the open field in Patagonia. An image that is dear to both their hearts for many reasons. 
This painting was such fun for Jonathan, because it was deep... Deep in meaning, deep with natural beauty, and deep in the hearts of two wonderful people.} 

 It's is so cool to watch Jonathan's gift be a simple reflection of the nature of God in action. What starts as a love within the heart, becomes created in a beautiful reality.

Time brings forth the details and the beauty.

We believe the two horses in the lead are a beautiful depiction of the couple, leading people forth into the beautiful freedom of Christ!

Here it is! The finished product! And when you look at it, you're led to say, "Isn't God a beautiful creator?!" God's glory is clearly seen in Patagonia!

They That Wait on the Lord

"They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as Eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not grow faint."Isaiah 40:31

To wait on the Lord, is to place ALL hope in Him, who is the author and the finisher of our faith, the creator of Heaven and Earth. This painting was finished by Jonathan just a little while ago, and this verse, this lifestyle has been his inspiration for it.

It's a simple taste of Heaven.

Well, I started posts a while back of a painting in progress. Yes, the artist is finally finished!  It has been a long anticipated, well drawn out process, but it is stunning, and well worth the wait!

Hither to and Yon

My dear friends. I fear I owe you all a much deserved apology for my long absence! I spoke boldly to a friend a few weeks back that I would be posting soon, and unfortunately, this has not been the case.
I hope that I might find some sympathy and understanding after I explain what our busy lives have been involved in these past few weeks. We have had a month of shows, spent time planning for a camping trip, and returned only a little while ago.
Camping trips might seem no big deal, but truly, when you are taking 19 teenagers to camp in tents, it is a work of love! We richly enjoyed ourselves, and the fellowship we had with the teens we love so much.

Anyway, we are home, recovered, and now preparing to leave for the Dominican Republic with a few of our youth again in July! Time has flown, and caught me by surprise.

During our short time home however, I have been focusing on simplifying my home, and organizing my life, so that I can better, more effectively support and serve Jonathan through our business. (When I have accomplished even a portion of my goals I will be happy to share them ;). Today, as I was "decluttering", I was sweetly distracted by Jonathan's old stash of sketchbooks, all hidden away in a tub in a closet. I pulled them out, and found so many little treasures. Some he drew 10-11 years ago!

I just LOVE birds, I have some hand-carved, vintage frames scoped out for these beauties!

He has such natural talent. He sees an interesting character, a photo, someone on TV, etc... And for pleasure draws something this beautiful! This truly was such a fun stash of drawings to dig through.

Some of you are probably wondering what happened to our mystery "painting in progress", well Mr. Artist has finally decided to call it done, and signed it yesterday. You will be seeing it very soon!

New Landscapes

WOW!!!  What a beautiful day it is today! The sun is bright and warm, and the wind gives just a soft chill to the air. Jonathan has been outside cleaning up our back porch and garage. And I have been soaking up some free time.

After re-doing my dining room walls last week, we have done some further updates, with new framed landscapes of Jonathan's. Enjoy!

 Here's some landscapes framed in gold.

 I placed them above a seating chair in my Living Room, one above the other.

Yes, she's still determined to be in all the pictures! What a poser ;)

Then two smaller 8x10" paintings which are added to the walls in my dining room:

 And I exchanged the large "Clifftops" painting above my buffet, for this new one, since the previous one has been juried into a show at the end of this month!

*These paintings aren't yet finished, I simply took a quick picture in a awkwardly lit room.*

BUT they're still pretty as heck! *smiles*  I'm gonna brag. And when they're finished, I am sure they'll really knock you on your butt!

The paintings are for sale.... but the puppy stays!  Little Amber refused to get out of the picture (she's a glutton for attention), so as punishment, she got a good thorough bath!
